Andalucía at Its Finest
Cycling Along Greenways Through Spain’s White Villages
Without question, Andalucía is Europe’s most exotic region. Ever since the Romantic era, southern Spain has captured travelers’ imaginations with its passionate culture, flamenco music, whitewashed villages, Moorish palaces, and dramatic mountain landscapes.
At times, you may feel as though you have traveled into the heart of the Arab world — especially while wandering through the narrow streets of Córdoba toward the magnificent Mezquita, one of the greatest mosques ever built. The legacy of Moorish Spain is everywhere: in the architecture, gardens, hidden courtyards, and hilltop villages that still reflect centuries of Islamic influence.
This cycling journey combines Andalucía’s cultural highlights with some of Spain’s most scenic and comfortable bike routes. Much of the tour follows the famous Vías Verdes — former railway lines converted into peaceful cycling paths — allowing you to ride through spectacular landscapes without major climbs or traffic. Along the way, discover Granada, Ronda, Seville, and Córdoba: cities filled with Moorish palaces, grand cathedrals, vibrant plazas, and unforgettable history.

This morning, a short transfer takes you into the Sierra Huétor Nature Park north of Granada, where today’s cycling route begins. Ride through beautiful mountain scenery on quiet country roads and forest paths with spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada peaks. The final stretch descends gently back toward Granada.
Later, stroll through the atmospheric Albaicín district with its narrow Moorish lanes and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the Alhambra. The afternoon and evening are free for you to explore Granada at your own pace. We highly recommend visiting the Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens (tickets should be booked well in advance). Overnight stay in Granada.
Day 3: White Villages & the Via Verde | approx. 25 mi (41 km), easy
A morning transfer brings you into the rugged landscapes of the Sierra Subbética Nature Park, where limestone mountains rise above forests of holm oak and Mediterranean shrubs. The beautiful white village of Zuheros, dramatically perched beneath a medieval castle, marks the start of today’s ride along one of Andalucía’s famous Vías Verdes — former railway lines transformed into scenic cycling paths.
As you cycle through olive groves, tunnels, and old railway viaducts, enjoy peaceful, traffic-free riding through the classic Andalusian countryside. Later, continue by bus to the historic town of Antequera, beautifully situated beneath dramatic mountain scenery. Dinner and overnight stay in Antequera.
Day 4: Lagoons, Mountain Landscapes & Ronda | approx. 22 mi (36 km), moderate
Today’s ride begins in the rural hinterland of the Costa del Sol, where rolling hills glow in shades of green and ochre and the air is scented with wild thyme and oregano. Cycle through peaceful farming landscapes, past traditional estates and reservoirs surrounded by rugged canyon scenery. Along the way, enjoy magnificent panoramic views across Andalucía’s dramatic interior.
A transfer then brings you into the mountains to Ronda, one of Spain’s most spectacular towns, dramatically perched above a deep gorge crossed by soaring stone bridges. Dinner and overnight stay in Ronda.
Day 5: Through the Land of the Bandoleros | approx. 22 mi (35 km), easy
Today you explore the romantic landscapes of the Sierra de Grazalema, home to some of Andalucía’s most beautiful white villages. After a transfer to the mountain pass of Puerto de las Palomas, enjoy breathtaking views across rugged peaks where vultures soar overhead. From here, descend by bike through spectacular mountain scenery toward Grazalema and Zahara de la Sierra, one of the region’s most picturesque villages.
In the afternoon, return to Ronda and discover why writers and poets have admired this extraordinary town for centuries. Dinner and overnight stay in Ronda.
Day 6: The Via Verde de la Sierra & Seville | approx. 22 mi (35 km), very easy
Today begins in the white village of Olvera, where the famous Via Verde de la Sierra starts. Following a former railway line, cycle gently downhill through tunnels, across viaducts, and past olive groves on one of Spain’s most enjoyable cycling routes.
After lunch, continue by bus to Seville — Andalucía’s vibrant capital and the legendary city of Carmen and Don Juan. In the afternoon, visit the magnificent Alcázar Palace, a masterpiece of Moorish architecture with ornate courtyards, tiled halls, and lush gardens. Your hotel is located in the charming Santa Cruz quarter, where narrow streets, hidden patios, tapas bars, and lively plazas invite exploration. Overnight stay in Seville.
Day 7: From Seville to Córdoba | approx. 25 mi (41 km), moderate
This morning, travel into the fertile Guadalquivir Valley before beginning your final cycling route near the mountain town of Constantina. Ride mainly downhill through cork oak forests, traditional ranchlands, and peaceful Andalusian countryside before reaching the Guadalquivir plain once again.
Later, continue by bus to Córdoba, once the capital of Moorish Spain and among the most magnificent cities of medieval Europe. In the evening, enjoy a first stroll through Córdoba’s atmospheric old town before a festive farewell dinner celebrating the flavors of Andalucía. Overnight stay in Córdoba.
Day 8: The Mezquita of Córdoba & Departure
This morning, visit the breathtaking Mezquita of Córdoba — one of the world’s greatest architectural wonders. Its endless forest of marble columns and red-and-white arches creates one of the most unforgettable interiors in Europe. Afterwards, depending on your flight arrangements, return either by high-speed AVE train or transfer to Málaga for your journey home.

STRAIGHT TALK
You won't find landscapes as magnificent as those in Andalusia anywhere else in Europe! Given the vastness of Andalusia and the fact that the most scenic cycling routes wind through mountainous regions, bus transfers are simply unavoidable. These transfers allow us to skip busy urban areas and focus on the natural beauty of the Sierras. We've timed these transfers to minimize disruptions to your cycling days. Many tour operators, driven by cost concerns, avoid these transfers, meaning their guests spend days cycling through monotonous plains. We believe you'll agree that our approach, while involving some travel time, offers a much richer and more rewarding experience.

Route rating / Difficulty level: Covering a total of approximately 134 miles (215 km) by bike and on foot, this tour offers a diverse range of experiences. Days 3 and 6 are particularly enjoyable, as they follow converted railway lines, now transformed into smooth and scenic bike paths. The remaining days take you through rolling hills, with more downhill than uphill sections, on quiet country roads.
