ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Geneva
Prepare for an enchanting introduction to Geneva, the "smallest metropolis in the world," as your guides eagerly await your arrival at the hotel reception at 16:00. Embark on a captivating city walk through the charming streets of Geneva, where history and modernity intertwine seamlessly.
In the summer months, Geneva dazzles with its vibrant energy and scenic beauty. Marvel at the iconic Jet d'eau fountain, a towering spectacle that reaches over 140 meters high and serves as Geneva's unmistakable landmark. Take in the breathtaking panoramas that unfold over the shimmering waters of Lake Geneva, the largest inland lake in Western Europe, offering a feast for the eyes and the soul. As evening descends, your guides will lead you to your first dinner together, a delightful opportunity to savor the flavors of Swiss cuisine and bond with your fellow travelers over a memorable meal. Afterward, retire to your accommodations in Geneva, where you'll rest and recharge, ready to continue your Alpine adventure in the morning.

Day 2: From Lake Geneva to Mont Blanc | Biking: 48 km, medium stage
As the morning sun casts its golden rays over Geneva, you bid farewell to the city and embark on an exhilarating journey to Mont Salève, Geneva's local mountain, aboard the Terranova bus. Ascending to the summit, you're greeted by panoramic vistas that stretch as far as the eye can see. Set off on a picturesque bike route through the Savoy Alps, where each bend in the trail reveals breathtaking views of the deep blue expanse of Lake Geneva juxtaposed against the majestic snow-capped peaks of Mont Blanc. Along the way, take time to pause and immerse yourself in the natural splendor that surrounds you.
A highlight of the journey awaits as you traverse the historic Pont de la Caille, a marvel of engineering that once held the title of the highest bridge in the world until 1912. Its suspension cables stretch across the abyss, offering a thrilling crossing and a glimpse into the region's rich history.
Arriving in Annecy, the "pearl of the French Alps," you're captivated by the town's timeless beauty. Nestled on the shores of Lake Annecy, this charming enclave boasts a magnificent old town adorned with arcaded houses and crowned by a picturesque castle—a true gem waiting to be explored.
In the afternoon, board the bus once more and journey to Chamonix, a legendary destination steeped in alpine history. Home to mountaineers and adventurers for centuries, Chamonix beckons with its rugged charm and unparalleled views of Mont Blanc, the monarch of the Alps. Here, beneath the towering peak, you'll enjoy a delicious dinner and settle in for your first night in the shadow of greatness.

Day 3: Across the Eternal Ice to the Aosta Valley | Biking: 35 km, easy stage
Prepare for an unforgettable journey through the icy majesty of Mont Blanc, where glaciers and snow stretch as far as the eye can see, perpetuating a winter wonderland that captivates the soul.
Delve into the heart of this Alpine paradise aboard what can only be described as one of the world's most spectacular cable cars—the aerial tramway to the summit of the Aiguille du Midi, standing tall at an impressive 3,842 meters above sea level. From this lofty perch, the panorama unfolds in all its glory, offering unobstructed views that stretch to the horizon, encompassing iconic peaks like the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, and the majestic Mont Blanc itself.
But the adventure doesn't stop there. Brace yourself for an exhilarating continuation as the cable car glides seamlessly across the eternal ice, connecting the Aiguille du Midi to the Pointe Helbronner over a breathtaking distance of 5 kilometers via the Vallée Blanche cable car. Along the way, soak in sweeping vistas of Mont Blanc and the rugged mountain terrain, with the Vallée Blanche unfurling beneath your feet, flanked by the imposing glaciers of Glacier du Géant, Glacier du Tacul, and the legendary Mer de Glace.
Descend into the enchanting Italian Valle d'Aosta aboard a third cable car, where e-bikes eagerly await your arrival at the bottom station. Embark on an afternoon of exploration through this storied land, where ancient Roman ruins, panoramic views, and delectable mountain cheese await your discovery. Pedal leisurely towards the capital, Aosta, where a tapestry of history and culture awaits.  As dusk descends upon Aosta, embark on a guided tour of the city's oldest and most sacred sites, winding through "secret" alleys and hidden streets, past verdant gardens, tranquil parks, and centuries-old stonework that whisper tales of bygone eras. Conclude your day with a sumptuous dinner, enveloped by the charm and allure of Aosta, as you settle in for your first night in this enchanting city.

Day 4: Matterhorn - symbol of Switzerland | Biking: 29 km, easy stage
Prepare to embark on an unforgettable journey through the icy splendor of Mont Blanc, where glaciers and snow create a majestic winter wonderland that will enchant your soul.
Get ready for a day filled with adventure and breathtaking scenery as you explore the stunning Aosta Valley and its surrounding areas.
In the morning, hop on your bike and pedal along a former railroad line, immersing yourself in the picturesque landscapes of the Aosta Valley as you make your way to the charming village of Châtillon. Here, you'll have the chance to soak in the tranquility and beauty of this idyllic setting. Next, board the Terranova bus for a scenic journey through one of the most enchanting side valleys of the Aosta Valley, ultimately arriving at Breuil-Cervinia. Nestled in the shadow of the iconic Matterhorn, this quaint village is hailed as the birthplace of modern alpinism. Since the second half of the 19th century, intrepid mountaineers have embarked from Breuil-Cervinia to conquer the summit of the Matterhorn, weaving a tapestry of legends around their courageous exploits.
Last year, a long-awaited dream became a reality with the inauguration of the "Matterhorn Alpine Crossing," a cable car that seamlessly connects the Italian village of Cervinia to Zermatt in Switzerland. The crowning jewel of this connection is the Matterhorn Glacier Ride, which enables the highest continuous crossing of the Alps by cable car. From the viewing platform, marvel at the awe-inspiring sight of the 38 four-thousand-meter peaks that dominate the horizon, leaving everyone in awe of nature's grandeur. After a day of exhilarating exploration, unwind and relax in the car-free resort town of Zermatt. With its timeless charm and myriad of excursion possibilities, Zermatt offers the perfect setting to recharge and rejuvenate amidst the beauty of the Swiss Alps. As evening falls, enjoy a delicious dinner, surrounded by the cozy ambiance of Zermatt, before settling in for your first overnight stay in this enchanting mountain paradise.

Day 5: Rest day in Zermatt
Today promises a leisurely start, allowing you to savor a delicious breakfast before embarking on a leisurely stroll through the charming streets of Zermatt. As you meander through this picturesque village, take in the sights and sounds of alpine life, immersing yourself in the unique atmosphere that surrounds you. Next, prepare for an unforgettable journey aboard the Gornergrat Bahn to Riffelalp. But this isn't just a mere means of transportation—rather, it's the first highlight of your excursion, offering unparalleled views of the majestic alpine world that surrounds you. Let yourself be captivated by the sheer beauty of the landscape as you ascend to Riffelalp.
After a delightful lunch break on the panoramic terrace of Riffelalp, it's time to embark on an optional hike back to Zermatt. Along the way, you'll encounter the Swiss stone pine, affectionately known as the "Queen of the Alps," a beloved symbol of the Zermatt landscape. The wood, resin, and needles of the Swiss stone pine contain the highly volatile substance pinosylvin, known for promoting a sense of well-being in humans. As you journey through the stone pine forest, bask in the soothing aroma that fills the air, while your eyes are treated to the vibrant hues of green that adorn the landscape. The copper-colored ground, blanketed by tree needles, adds to the enchanting atmosphere, while the surprise of a waterfall cascading into the Findelbach adds to the magic of the experience. As evening approaches, enjoy the freedom to explore Zermatt at your leisure, with our guides on hand to offer recommendations on where to dine and unwind. After a day filled with adventure and natural beauty, settle in for your second overnight stay in Zermatt, where dreams of alpine splendor await.

Day 6: Glacier Express| Biking: 40 km, medium stage
Prepare for an unforgettable journey aboard the Glacier Express, renowned as one of the most diverse rail experiences in Europe. Setting off from Zermatt, the train winds its way down to Visp before traversing the Mattertal valley via Brig, the capital of German-speaking Valais, and onwards to Oberwald. Here, the panoramic train plunges into the depths of the Furka Tunnel, a remarkable feat of engineering stretching over 15.4 kilometers, before emerging in Andermatt. But the real spectacle begins as the train ascends towards the breathtaking Oberalp Pass, standing proudly at 2,033 meters above sea level, en route to Disentis (Mustér). Nestled atop the Vorderrheintal of Graubünden, the monastery of Disentis stands as a testament to centuries of history and culture.
Here, your e-bikes await, ready to lead you on a magnificent journey through the idyllic landscapes of Grisons. Casting one last glance at the oldest existing Benedictine monastery north of the Alps, you begin your descent along the vibrant Vorderrhein. As the mountain valley unfolds before you, the Surselva region reveals its splendor, with the "Uaul Grond" forest beckoning with its vast expanses of greenery, dotted with charming meadows and tranquil lakes.
As you pedal through picturesque villages like Sumvitg, adorned with handsome fountains, you'll find yourself captivated by the serene beauty that surrounds you. Passing through Valendas, you'll be awe-struck by the rugged beauty of the Vorderrhein Gorge, often referred to as the "Grand Canyon of Switzerland." Your journey culminates in Chur, where you'll continue your travels in first-class comfort aboard the train, marveling at the stunning scenery as you traverse the rugged terrain. Arriving in the heart of Chur's old town, you'll settle in for your first overnight stay, surrounded by the charm and history of this ancient city. With 40 kilometers behind you, this middle stage of your adventure promises to be nothing short of extraordinary.

Day 7: Cycling tour on the Via Mala | Bikinng: 36 km, medium stage
Get ready to delve into the rich history and vibrant culture of Chur, the oldest city in Switzerland, nestled amidst the breathtaking Alpine landscape. With its historical roots and bustling atmosphere, Chur serves as the cultural heart of Graubünden and a hub of activity in the region. Explore the charming streets of Chur's car-free old town, where boutiques, restaurants, bars, museums, and galleries lend an almost Mediterranean flair to the surroundings. Discover the city's ancient heritage as you wander past centuries-old buildings and immerse yourself in its fascinating history.
As the central hub of the Rhaetian Railway, Chur opens up a world of adventure with another renowned railroad line awaiting exploration. Board the Rhaetian Railway and journey from Chur to Thusis, traversing the iconic Albula line—a marvel of railroad technology and engineering that continues to captivate travelers to this day.
Upon arriving in Thusis, embark on a cycling adventure through the legendary Via Mala, a notorious gorge steeped in eerie legends and stories of the past. Pause for a refreshing drink amidst the rugged beauty of the gorge before continuing your journey along a panoramic route above the Hinterrhein. Pedal through quaint villages, past medieval fortifications, and magnificent castles as you make your way back to Chur. The bike route offers sweeping views of the surrounding landscape, providing a perfect opportunity to soak in the natural beauty of the region.
As evening descends upon Chur, return to the comfort of your hotel in the old town, where you'll enjoy a delightful dinner and reflect on the day's adventures. With a second overnight stay in Chur, you'll have ample time to savor the charm and allure of this historic city before bidding farewell to its captivating streets.

Day 8: Departure from Chur

Clothing in the evening: Some of the restaurants are very stylish. Therefore, we recommend bringing a jacket for gentlemen.

The trip includes half board except for the 1 day of travel. Please plan a travel budget for the purchase of picnics including drinks - approx. 30 EUR per day. Drinks must also be paid for at dinner and, of course, at any café visits. Likewise, a budget for tips should also be planned.
