Biking on the enchanting Mediterranean island Majorca
The Island of Majorca awaits you with scenic and cultural highlights! The Island capital Palma, magnificent fincas, idyllic hamlets, vineyards, the blue sea and Lluc Monastery, in the heart of the Tramuntana World Heritage Site. Travel towards the sun for the almond blossom in spring. In the mild autumn, you can swim in the sea because the sun still shines for a long time. On this cycling route you will experience the unspoilt Majorca. On the way on the e-bike you will experience the "traditional" Majorca on enchanting paths, quiet corners, old villages, mountain monasteries and grandiose landscapes.
Most of the tour you will cycle on the so-called "Camis", the old, originally historic paths far away from busy roads through the centre of the island, a landscape with Mediterranean character largely untouched by tourism. Picturesque places and monasteries with a long history lie along the way: the remote little church of Santa Maria de Gracia under a huge rock overhang, the quiet mountain monastery of Montesion with its Gothic archway around a peaceful inner courtyard, and Petra, an old Mallorcan farming village - hard to believe that the man who founded San Francisco in the USA came from there.
Unique on this Majorca Ebike trip:
- Stay in 2 country hotels (historic fincas) and 2 boutique hotels.
- extraordinary cycling route on historic "camis
- visit of Palma, Randa, Sineu, Petra, Binissalem, monastery Lluc, Pollença, Alcúdia and Sóller
- Bodega tour with wine tasting in the D.O.C. wine-growing area of Binissalem
- Spectacular views from Cap Formentor
- Regional cuisine of Majorca

Day 1: Arrival to Palma
Individual arrival in Palma. Your rooms in the hotel in the centre of Palma will be ready for you from 3:00 pm. Your terranova tour guide will be waiting to greet you at the hotel reception at 4:30 pm. During the subsequent guided tour of the city, we will show you the picturesque alleys and squares of the old town. It extends around the magnificent cathedral. It is one of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean. During our city tour there is usually mass, which is why we cannot always visit the cathedral from the inside! An Arab mosque once stood here. Only the filigree of the narrow streets reminds us of their rule. They are lined with numerous palaces, which present themselves almost forbiddingly to the street. Occasionally you can take a look into their inner courtyards, which are architectural works of art. You will enjoy dinner in a typical Mallorcan restaurant in the old town. 1 night in the boutique hotel Born****.
Day 2: Monastery Hill Randa and the lowland of "Es-Pla" | BIKE: 65 km
The Majorcans call the heart of their island the "Pla". Here lie those once rich estates with huge estates and small fincas. Grain, olives and almonds grow here. We will show you the beautiful Randa Monastery - also called "Santuari Senyora de Cura de Randa" or "Santuari de la Mare de Déu de Cura". It is located on the top of the 542-metre-high Puig de Randa mountain, on which there are two other monasteries. From there you have a great view of the wide landscape of the island to the south. The next destination is also one of the many Majorcan mountain monasteries worth seeing near the country town of Porreres. Without the slightest ascent, you cycle to the foot of the Montesion mountain. The way up to the monastery of Montesion is not to be missed, whether by bike, on foot or in the terranova escort vehicle.
Originally a Jesuit school, famous for its high standard of Greek and Latin. From the mid-14th century, a monastery with a church in honour of "Our Lady of Mount Zion". Today the complex is financially supported by Majorcan families from the surrounding area. After a lunch break in the beautiful square of the country town of Porreres, the cycle route finally takes you to the centre of the island between Montuiri and Sineu. You will enjoy dinner at your finca hotel. 2 nights in the finca hotel Es Figueral Nou****
Day 3: The traditional center of the island | BIKE: 47 km
Once again, you can expect an almost ascent-free cycle route that often follows historic country lanes. Such a path is called a “cami”. You have to know your way around Mallorca to find these paths and document them so that your tour guides can always find them. Your bikes are already waiting outside the hotel for the next ride. Your first destination is the important rural town of Sineu in the center of the island. Its market square is the most famous and largest on the island and attracts more than just the locals to the otherwise quiet town in the interior of the island. We continue by bike to Petra. The house of the priest Fra Junipero Sera, the founder of San Francisco, stands in an inconspicuous alleyway in this traditional farming village!
On the way back to your hotel, the cycle path leads through a farming village where street vendors have piled up all the colorful splendor of Mediterranean crops. You would love to pick up a basket full of dates, artichokes, tomatoes and guavas! This abundance of crops was the livelihood of the rich land barons of Mallorca. Their mostly aristocratic estates are still called “possessionses” today, and it is only recently that Els Calderérs - one of these remote aristocratic country palaces - has been made accessible to visitors by the family. You have the evening at leisure to discover the atmospheric little town of Montuiri on your own and sample tapas and wine in one of the bars and restaurants (dinner not included today).
Day 4: The wines along the south hills of the Tramuntana Mountains | BIKE: 40 km
The ride on the Ebike starts once again in front of the hotel and finally leads along the Tramuntana Mountains to Campanet. This cultural landscape was recently awarded the rank of World Heritage Site. On our cycle route today, you will always have the mountain range of the "Sierra" in front of you - the mountain range up to 1,400 metres high, which follows the entire north coast of the island. The transition of this often bizarre and wild mountain range to the plain forms one of the most charming landscapes of the whole island. There you will also pass through the wine village of Binissalem and reach the picturesquely situated village of Caimari around noon. At the end of the village, ruggedly high mountains rise. There are again wonderful and winding camis through hidden valleys that can be tackled by bike without much effort. The closer we get to the mountains, the more often you see how the almond and fruit trees with peaches and apricots are now replaced by olive trees with their typical silvery leaves. At the foot of the mountains, in a lonely mountain valley, lies the small village of Binibona. In this wonderfully situated hamlet in complete seclusion lies the beautiful finca hotel Binibona Parc Natural. You will spend three nights there in homely and rural Majorcan surroundings. We have dinner in the very good hotel restaurant with a wonderful view over the landscape.
Day 5: Famous monastery Lluch & Majorcas mountainous north coast | BIKE: 51 km
Again you start directly at the hotel, this time in the opposite direction along the mountains to Caimari. The mountain range of jagged peaks with its sometimes lovely and often wild valleys and grandiose cliffs into the sea is considered by many to be one of the most charming landscapes in the entire western Mediterranean. Today gives you the opportunity to get to know this unusual landscape. Between Caimari and the monastery of Lluch runs an ancient "cami", one of those fascinating "primitive paths" that have survived on Majorca. It is a wide path, artfully built of natural stones over long stretches, which has survived for centuries. It climbs steadily through old pine forest. Countless pilgrims have walked it in processions lasting days to the monastery of Lluch. We also walk the most beautiful section of this path. This takes you deep into a dramatic rocky mountain range with overwhelming views. This path is one of the unforgettable scenic experiences of Majorca. If you want to avoid it, you can make the uphill journey in our escort bus. Shortly after crossing a busy pass, the path descends into a green valley basin with the Lluch monastery, which is well worth seeing. Don't miss the tour of the Lluch monastery with its particularly venerated statue of the Madonna and the climb to its romantic Calvary!
After the lunch break there is a dramatic cycle route! The cycling route out of the mountains is breathtaking with gorgeous views of the deep blue sea. This cycle route ends at a double-arched bridge from Roman times. From here you walk into this old town, which is well worth seeing. The historic old town of Pollensa will immediately appeal to you: Its narrow streets are lined with countless interesting shops, pubs and remarkable galleries. On the Plaza Mayor, restaurants and cafés have placed their chairs in front of the house. After a coffee break in the small country town of Pollenca, the last section of the cycle tour on Majorca lies ahead of you. You cycle the last kilometres on small roads along fields planted with vines on the south side of the Sierra de Tramuntana back to your finca hotel.
Day 6: Pollencas roman bridge & Cap of Formentor | BIKE: 60 km
This is a fantastic cycling route: it starts again directly at the hotel and leads through the grandiose landscape of karstified, wild rocks and deep gorges. The closer you get to the town of Pollença, the lovelier the landscape becomes. Gradually, it seems to transform into a Mediterranean garden. We follow a winding path flanked by ancient little walls. It leads in a confusing zigzag through fields and orchards along the foot of the cone-shaped Puig Maria mountain, on whose summit lies a small monastery that is difficult to reach. Finally, the cycle route continues to the harbour town of Puerto de Pollença. From there, take a walk along the harbour pier. It is arched over by huge old pine trees, whose branches extend far across the water. The harbour town lies at the foot of the foothills of the karstic mountains. It forms a huge and very narrow peninsula of rugged and jagged mountains that reaches far into the sea. This is the famous peninsula of Formentor. Vertical cliffs rising from the sea give this headland a dramatic and wild character. This rocky landscape is inaccessible to cyclists. In order to show it to you, we let the bus take us to one of the most worth seeing views. There you stand above a huge rocky precipice, at whose feet the sea crashes against steep cliffs. In the afternoon we follow the cycle path along the coast to the historic town of Alcúdia. There you can admire photogenic old city walls and Roman ruins worth seeing. The return journey from Alcúdia to the hotel takes us first through the Parc Natural de S'Albufera, the most important wetland in the Balearic Islands. The route continues mostly on picturesque and low-traffic old camis through inland areas back to the Binibona mountain valley.
Day 7: Spectacular Sierra de Tramuntana & Valley of the orange trees
You have to see this part of the island! The mountain range of jagged peaks of Majorca with its sometimes lovely and often wild valleys and steep drops of the mountains into the sea is considered by many to be one of the most charming landscapes in the entire western Mediterranean. Today gives you the opportunity to get to know this unusual landscape. Today, exceptionally, your day begins with a bus ride. It takes you over many bends and through tunnels up into the high and wild mountains. Only at the highest point of the road do you change from the bus to the familiar bikes. They are ready again at a magnificent viewpoint. From there you have an overwhelming view of the cliffs. The cycle route leads downhill on an asphalt road to Fornalutx, one of the most beautiful villages in Majorca. We leave the bikes there to take a stroll through the charming stepped alleyways. Every step leads to new enticing photo opportunities in this listed village. The last section of the cycle tour on Majorca now lies ahead of you. It ends in Soller. The afternoon is at your disposal. We offer the hiking enthusiasts among our guests the opportunity to hike part of the way to Déya with us and to roam through an extremely enticing and pristine natural environment. Déya is known as an artists' village. It is also situated high on the hillside above the coast. Slender palm trees and cypresses grow in its gardens. Bushes with colorful bougainvillea flowers climb over old walls between the closely spaced houses.
The hiking trail runs above the sea, partly through dense Mediterranean forest and always offers surprising views of the sea. In Deya, we then take a walk through the village together. It leads through narrow alleyways over low steps, past small galleries and pubs up to the old village church on the highest point of the village. Around the small church is certainly one of the most atmospheric cemeteries under tall pine trees. This is also the grave of the famous writer Robert Ranke-Graves (“I Claudius, Emperor and God”). He lived in Déya, as do many well-known artists and writers today, for whom Déya is an idyllic retreat. You will spend your last night on the island in the picturesque old town of Soller in an excellent hotel. Final dinner and 1 overnight stay at the Grand Hotel**** in Soller.
Day 8: Departure to Palma Airport
Individual departure. After breakfast, we offer you a transfer to the airport or to Palma (for a fee).
