Day 1: Arrival to Frankfurt
Your terranova contact will be waiting for you at the terranova office at the agreed time. There you will receive valuable information about your trip and, if booked, your rental bikes or ebikes.

Day 2: On to the Rheingau - 65 kilometers by bike - easy stage
Cycle relaxed along the banks of the Main River and vineyards. The route starts on the southern bank of the Main and leads to the medieval old town of Höchst, which is well worth seeing. A short detour to the state capital Mainz takes you through 2000 years of history. Here you can still see ancient Roman ruins and one of the most important cathedrals on the Rhine. On the banks of the Rhine, you will discover the magnificent Biebrich Palace, a masterpiece that dates back to the Baroque period and impresses with its huge palace park. Along idyllic wine villages, let yourself be tempted by a taste of Rhine Riesling on the picturesque riverbank promenade in Eltville!

Day 3: The wine country of the Nahe - 31 bike kilometers - easy stage
Today the cycle path leads along the banks of the Rhine. A short detour takes you to the popular World Heritage Site of Rüdesheim. You can take the gondola up to the Niederwald Monument and enjoy a unique view over the vineyards to the Rhine landscape. The Rhine Cycle Path in Bingen has fabulous photo motifs in store for you! In Bad Kreuznach, the place of health, you can enjoy the largest open-air inhalatorium in Europe while walking along the huge graduation towers. At the valley of the river, the popular photo motif of the medieval bridge, which is still covered with houses, awaits you.

Day 4: Through Rheinhessen to Alzey - 40 bike kilometers - medium stage
Ahead of you lies a particularly charming cycling route through Rheinhessen with many little-known wine villages and a landscape hardly touched by tourism. For the first few kilometers of the day, you will follow the Appel River on the Appelbach Cycle Path. From Wöllstein you cycle along the Hiwwel cycle path over 1000 hills. Maybe there are not really 1000 hills, but felt there could be so many. The Rhineland Hessian affectionately calls them "Hiwwel". In Alzey you can enjoy the atmosphere at the Rossmarkt, the "hub" of Alzey, in the afternoon with a glass of wine. The lushly proportioned steed of the minstrel and knight Volker von Alzey, standing at the fountain watering hole, invites not only children to swing into the saddle and have their picture taken.

Day 5: Rheinhessen & Palatinate - 48 bike kilometers - middle stage
From Rheinhessen, the largest wine-growing region in Germany, you cycle on to the Palatinate, the second largest wine region. Here you will follow the magnificent Palatinate Wine Route cycling route. Its numerous famous wine villages cannot fail to make a wine connoisseur's heart beat faster. In the largest wine-growing town in the Palatinate, Deidesheim, delightful historic buildings await you. The prince-bishop's castle with its particularly beautiful castle park and its old noble courtyards is one of them with a double flight of stairs.

Day 6: Along the Palatinate Wine Route - 25 bike kilometers - easy stage
The leisurely bike route takes you further along the wine route to the romantic wine town of Rhodt unter Rietburg. Small houses with picturesque vine-covered farms of winegrowers characterize the face of the village. You can follow in the footsteps of King Ludwig I at the enchanting Villa Ludwigshöhe Castle. From here you have a unique view over the vineyards into the Rhine valley.

Day 7: From Rhodt to Heidelberg - 52 bike kilometers - medium stage
In the morning you will roll into the city of Speyer, famous for its important cathedral built in Romanesque style. It is the largest preserved Romanesque cathedral in the world and is a World Heritage Site! In the center of Schwetzingen, you will catch sight of the glamorous palace park. It was created in the 18th century by an elector of the Palatinate. The fusion of the geometric and landscape styles make it a masterpiece of European horticulture. You'll end the day in Heidelberg, an enchanting city on the Neckar River that is worth its own trip! Its world-famous city panorama at the foot of Heidelberg Castle justifies an extensive tour of its Old Town and the alleys around the Gothic Church of the Holy Spirit.

Day 8: Departure from Heidelberg
Today the journey ends in Heidelberg. We recommend an additional overnight stay in Heidelberg. Heidelberg is well connected to the railroad network. Optionally you can book a return transfer to Frankfurt incl. bike and luggage at terranova. Departure of the transfer in Heidelberg is at 10:00 am.

Accomodation/Hotels

Accomodation:

Romantic hotels: Our standard for hotel selection is high. Our hotels should not only be functionally as perfect as possible, but above all offer a pleasant atmosphere. Only now and then the course of the route forces a compromise. Then, however, you will occasionally have to make do with a simple house. We do not accept a cheaper hotel just to achieve a seemingly low travel price. terranova always mentions the hotel names in the brochure and on the Internet. You are welcome to check our rating in Michelin or on tripadvisor.
